The second era of the da Vinci system is the S HD Surgical System. It integrates 3D HD endoscopy, to give surgeon a better view of the field. The feelling of the doctor now is closer to the patient, his hand and eyes are virtually into the surgical field. Plus the endowrist instruments are longer and with a wider range of movements possible. Human hands never had so many possible access inside of human body like today.
The patient cart has improved, the third arm has been moved into the top of the robot so it would be easier to use it. The higher resolution gives the chance to keep the endoscope far away from the surgical place, giving more space to move. With a multi-input display i more information can be analysed. The arms are strongest so in case of people with weight problems the surgical invasion would be minimal.
Another step to help people leave better has been done.
